PMX Urges Malaysia’s Halal Industry to Go Beyond Certification
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for Malaysia to expand its Halal industry beyond just certification. Speaking at the Penang International Halal Expo, he highlighted the huge potential of the Halal sector, which includes manufacturing, cosmetics, and Islamic financing guided by Maqasid Syariah principles.
Anwar stressed the importance of collaboration between JAKIM, Halal Development Corporation, MATRADE, and MIDA to support small and medium enterprises in understanding and growing their role in the Halal ecosystem. He also shared that many nations, including Islamic countries, are keen to work with Malaysia to develop their Halal industries, recognizing Malaysia’s global leadership in Halal certification.
The Penang International Halal Expo, held from December 5 to 8 at Gravitas in Jalan Baru, features 200 exhibitors showcasing the opportunities within the Halal economy.
